just a double check. The cutout below is not polarity sensitive right? my ford is neg ground.

The cutout with diode is polarity sensitive, I know that. But the mechanical one I started to doubt now. But I don't think so.

This looks like a reproduction cutout. In the photo on the left, The contact on the left goes to the battery. The contact on the right in the same photo goes to the generator.

There are two coils: one with small wire and many turns and one with larger wire and fewer turns. The one with small wire is voltage sensitive and closes the contacts once the generator voltage is high enough. The one with fewer turns has the full current running through it once the contacts close and keeps the contacts closed. Neither coil is polarity sensitive.

Ones that use a diode. You can use one for a Model T on -ground.
