Cast aluminum cleaner i'm ready to re-install the B&M blower on my 59A, but want to clean the outer casing beforehand. It is dull gray and has fuel stains, and I suspect it was coated with a clear material sometime in the past, maybe from the factory(?). I'm not going to blast it, so a chemical solution is the answer. Question is what kind? I have tried paint stripper, which doesn't work well, and am going to try bicarbonate of soda and then rubbing alcohol and if that fails, white vinegar. Any other suggestions?
Help appreciated! Thanks. |

Clean it with some denatured alcohol and paint it with cerakote C "dull nickel satin". I ran this motor on my run stand and had a pretty good fuel leak at the start and the intake and heads still look as new, no stains. IT would be best to blast it, THEN wipe it down and paint it IMO.

Re: Cast aluminum cleaner A friend of mine has a special cabinet that wet blasts aluminum intakes with soda. Maybe someone in your area also has this kind of equipment.
