31’ Victoria body to frame mount My choke rod bares hard against the bottom of its firewall hole suggesting that the body is mounted too high or tipped back. A previous owner used 1/4” rubber spacers between the frame and body mounts. I’ve removed most of them but don’t seem to be getting the choke rod position to free up. I believe I’ve read that Victoria’s did not have wood block mounts. They only used the canvas strip between the body and frame. Can anyone lend suggestions as to what was used between the body and frame and how to align the two? My goal is to get my choke rod to run without interference with the hole in the firewall. It seems that I should shim up the rear of the body up to change the angle so that the firewall goes down as to relieve pressure on the choke rod.
For reference, the intake and carburetor are mounted correctly and my doors line up correctly (an indication that the body isn’t twisted). Thanks in advance for your collective insight. Much appreciated! |
Re: 31’ Victoria body to frame mount the original rubber pads were about 3/16". your engine might setting to high. does your front pulley line up with your crank hole. and what kind of rear engine mounts do you have.

My front pulley does line up. My rear engine mount is shown in the attached image.
Hopefully I attached it correctly. |
Re: 31’ Victoria body to frame mount Sagged frame?
|
Re: 31’ Victoria body to frame mount How would I check that?
|
Re: 31’ Victoria body to frame mount With the body on checking frame is difficult.
If bare frame a string pulled tight will reveal. Like a brick mason lays brick! |
Re: 31’ Victoria body to frame mount you have float-a motor mounts in the rear. if the rubbers are bad the engine will set to low in the rear.
Note I for one do not like float-A motor mounts for a number of reasons, |

Re: 31’ Victoria body to frame mount Very evident the float a motor mounts have sagged. Ben there and done that. Also will cause bottom radiator hose to break loose from the tank.

Re: 31’ Victoria body to frame mount The FAM part mounted to the engine has an "UP" side, should be able to see it marked in the square pad, check above and below, to make sure "this side is up".
