Gen/Alt Wiring Quiestion My '51 Tudor has a new original style wiring harness, have converted to 12 volt neg. ground. Also installing a 1 wire alternator (sorry) and the original regulator has been removed. There are 2 wires which both appear to be grounds, a black/white and a black/red that went to the gen, which now end up grounding to inner fender grounds. Dumb question, but could not both of these leads go onto the same ground bolt on the alternator? I just have to ask, before anything goes live. THANKS.

Re: Gen/Alt Wiring Quiestion I used one of the grounds. Don't apologize for 12V and the alternator. No issues with mine. Check the alignment of the belts, my alternator locating hole that locates on the
alternator bracket (holder) was off 3/16". |
Re: Gen/Alt Wiring Quiestion One is probably a ground and the other one was the field wire . Neither one is needed with the one wire alternator.

Re: Gen/Alt Wiring Quiestion WGA and Ken, thanks for the responses. Considering that both of these leads are present in the harness, and that Powermaster is adamant about not relying on the mount for grounding, I just joined both into a single eyelet and attached to ground bolt on alternator. I have a somewhat related question but will post in a new thread. Thanks again!
