1955 Fairlane headlight chrome "eyebrow" trim

Hey guys! I have always admired the chrome "eyebrow" trim on '55 headlight doors. Question: will they fit my '56 headlight doors, or are they specifically for '55's? Thanks in advance. F F

This is a real memory test. But I dinged the headlight on my 55 bird, and I’m pretty sure I replaced it with a 56. But that was the fall of 1968. But I never tried just the trim. I don’t know I’d there was anything different in the pot metal casting to account for that trim.

I believe they are only for 55's. If you are talking Fairlanes. Fenders on the 55 and 56 are the same except an added small piece under headlamps the side V trim is changed, and I think it's longer on top. You could always try to find examples at car shows. Just going off of a 50-year-old memory of a friends 56. This discussion is old news.

The 56 Fairlanes had the little arrow or dart on top of the door. I don't know how it was affixed.

Chrome Eye-Brow Headlight Trim on 1955 Fords.
This Trim was never offered on 1955 Fords in Australia, however it was added to our 1958 Fords.
Our 1958 Fords were based on the 1955/1956 Body, but had 1955 Meteor Grille and 1956 Meteor Side Trim.

Australian 1958 Ford. Ford Australia never offered the true 1857 or 1958 Fords locally.
Notice the 1955 Meteor Grille and 1956 Meteor Side Trim.
These days, these models are known as Star Models.
That is because of the Star in the Grille, Trunk Lid Trim and Hubcaps, all features of the Canadian Meteor from which it was derived.

Only '55 Fairlane had the pot metal cast headlight doors designed to take the chromed eyebrows. Lots of people puy'55 Fairlane headlight doors on '55-57 Birds.

Yes, they are OEM lights. Had a hard time finding them, quite expensive.

Thanks. I saw a post a while back somewhere showing the box, instructions, and contents. Maybe yours. First time I’ve seen them installed. Looks nice with that combination.

'55 Fairlane headlight doors made for mounting the eyebrow trim are a specific part, not the same as regular headlight doors. Photo 1

If the usual '55 headlight doors will fit on your '56 Club Sedan then yes, the type with eyebrow trim will also fit.
If you are looking for a set make sure the small round alignment pin at the top is intact. (photo 3)
It helps keep them on the car instead of falling off when going down the road.

If the pins at the top is broken, CASCO has a repair kit

Hi I have found unbroken headlight doors with pins (above pics) are harder to find than chrome trim. Have noticed trim ring are in vendors catalog's.

As Paul mentioned there is a repair kit available for the broken pins. The pins are quite small and easily broken.

The special cast headlight doors aren't reproduced like the chrome trim is, only available as surviving original parts.
