If could be either a Mallory Magspark transformer or a Mallory Voltmaster coil. They used the same case, but had different markings (which are not shown).

They use a special distributor with two sets of points and are sort of a "poor man's" multiple spark (Magspark) or a dual coil (Voltmaster). They have a reputation of being very good ignitions.

The disc are resistors for the coil voltage.

my 54 lincoln had one one it when i was in high school. didnt know then what it was . had a mallory dual point dist. too. Car ran great.
