This is currently on Facebook Marketplace, not mine just interested in knowing who actually made this when? Fuel inlet is wrong for Model B.Is it Tillotson?

Yes, the usual Tillotson that everyone has either on his Model A engine or sitting in a box in his garage. No big shakes, although RNOS is nice.

New ones are still available at close to $700 but I don't know how many they sell at that price. It's curious about the "Motorcraft" box. I know that FoMoCo supplied them under contract manufacture back in the day but that box is a lot newer. Does the box have a part number tag on it? I can't read the model number on the carb but it should be Model X if it's for an A. Ford went to the Motorcraft name in 1972 but that was 40-years after model A production was over. Ford used the Autolite name before that. It may have been repackaged at some point. Ford dealers kept model A parts on there shelves for a long time but as they sold out or moved, they would sell that stuff off at bargain basement prices.

In 1968 I bought a new Tillotson from J.C. Whitney for $13.95 plus $1.50 shipping. I wish I had bought 100 of them and just sat on them until now. At the prices RNOS Tillotsons in their original boxes are selling for these days, I could afford to buy that fake DeLuxe Phaeton!

You can get new ones in Argentina as well.....but to fit the Model A linkages correctly you need to replace several parts:

The latter history of the Tillotson X carburetor is told at https://files.secure.website/wscfus/...tilly-carb.pdf

More information in "Restorer Magazine" Vol 40 Issue 2 on page 12. (1995) Steve Pargeter's "chart" indicates various brass/non-brass fitting depending on the variant.

Since this came in a "Ford" box one might infer that this is a "Model XF." Be interesting to read on the box.

I might point out that the Zenith 2415N is virtually the same carburetor, but has the gasoline connection pointing "forward" (Model B)

Thanks Joe, I knew that article that I wrote was on the internet, but didn't know where! I wrote it in the late 1990's or early 2000's. Somone put it up as a pdf, but don't know who.

I also have a new Tillotson carb in a Motorcraft box. I bought two at the time (1980's), used one on a car and stashed the other.
