Window glass patterns for 31 slant windshield T/S
 

Does anyone sell the patterns for glass for a Model A? I really don't want to take 2 doors apart to replace the glass in 1. I have a 31 slant windshield town sedan. Thanks

Brattons lists glass by the piece in their Volume XI catalog (sent to me recently). Also, there was a thread on here a week or so ago that discussed sources of glass.

Sanders Glass out west used to be the best. Changed ownership and haven’t used since….so don’t know how they are now. Never know!

ebay shop in CT- less cost for shipping, and same cost as buying locally. they have ALL of the patterns....

Thanks guys! I was hoping to lay my hands on the patterns themselves. A few years back you could get them. I guess the vendors have decided the glass is more lucrative than the patterns. There's a local glass business that will cut mine if I have a pattern. Price wise about the same without the shipping costs.

Some patterns used to be in various books….maybe service bulletins

I ordered from them last week, they are almost local for me. They do almost everything online now that Peninsula Glass owns them.

Some suppliers such as Berts offers cut glass. Depends on where you are and the freight.

Unfortunately Bratton's no longer sells any of the glass. The cost associated with buying storing, and packing the glass became cost prohibitive.

I just took my frame to my local glass shop (big place) and they made the pattern and cut the glass for me. If memory serves me correctly it was $130 ish.

After I looked at the other side and realized it had the original plate glass in it too, I pulled the glass from both rear doors and took them to my local glass shop. Dropped them off yesterday and should get them back by Friday. Cost was $150/window for safety glass and that's with 3 sides polished and the channel installed. From what I've found on the web I saved the shipping and the risk of breaking the windows putting the channel on. And I also made a pattern which I will probably never need again! :)

I used to have a local shop cut my glass, but got sick of it being 1/16th too large in every case.


I would just order in the future and save myself the time. we each have diff experiences. With 20 cars in my yard, I try to cut down on time........
but that only pertains to the Model As. some do have to go to the glass shop.

The only time I have had an issue was on my Tudor about 4 years ago. They cut the rear window a little too big and I had to get them to take a little off. All the side glass and windshield was fine. Maybe I've been lucky so far!

Just for kicks & giggles, there is a difference between 1930-'31 straight windshield glass and windshield frames and slant windshield glass and frames. Also, the windshield hold-open brackets are different.

Apparently the slant windshield cars were a whole new breed! Looks like very few body parts crossed over from the straight windshield ones. Thanks for the info Bob!
