Glass kit for a 1930 Town Sedan?

I would like to replace all the glass for my 1930 Briggs Town Sedan. Is the Briggs and Murray glass different?
Where would be the best place to purchase a kit? I saw a listing on eBay from Bob's Classic Auto Glass in Oregon for glass kits. That would be a long way to ship Glass to Ohio. Has anyone purchased a glass kit from them? They list the glass as laminated. I thought laminated was only used in the windshield. They list clear, green tint, and gray tint. I checked Snyders but did not see glass kits listed.
I tried to search past threads and found lots of threads that did not apply, some that did but were really old threads.
I also planned to replace the glass on my brothers Victoria. Both door glasses are broken. So that would be a second kit I will need.
Several years ago I had a local glass shop cut glass for my 40 Ford Tudor. They ground the edges but did not polish them. they are so rough it looks terrible. So they are out of consideration.

Thanks

I order the windshield and rear glass for my roadster. You can order on- line, they shipped very fast and the packaging held up very well. I’ll have to check the shipping company in the morning.

ebay usually also has a glass outfit from CT as well. closer to you.

these companies have shipped glass for years on ebay, so I wouldnt worry...........

I think it makes more sense then using someone local and taking in the old glass.

Yes Murray and riggs glass is different.

A couple of years ago I ordered front side glass for my 1930 Town Sedan from Bert’s. It was tempered glass.

A good glass shop should be able to cut laminated, or supply tempered glass for your car. I had the glass cut and tempered for my '36 Chevrolet. A model a should be about as easy. My model A sedan glass was cut from laminated glass at a different local shop.

The old glass shops that cut glass are getting rare. The last one in Central Oregon closed about a year ago.

Local shops in Knoxville area seem to have a problem making glass cuts for Model A's. One made some window glass for my Tudor before they sold out a few years ago. New shop owners did not carry any window rubber to set the glass in. I was able to get a shop 40 miles away to make a replacement wind wing. They said it was the last glass for our cars. They mentioned some insurance problems. I guess I will have to shop out of state if I need any more glass.

Re: Glass kit for a 1930 Town Sedan?

Laminated is plate glass with a membrane between two layers to keep it intact when broken. This is how the original windshield was made. The rest of the glass in the original A was plain old plate glass. Modern cars as a rule still use the laminated process for the windshield and tempered plate for the side and rear windows. That's the stuff that breaks into tiny pieces.

Any decent shop can cut laminated for the A. You use a regular glass cutter on each side. Then you can snap the glass and squirt some lighter fluid on it. light it and the membrane can be easily cut. They can cut and then grind the edges of tempered glass but it takes a good shop with the tools and skill. Laminated is the way to go.
It's not critical but some states or countries may require a bug on the glass. That's the little logo etched into a corner that says what specs it meets. Sanders can do it. "Scripting is a reproduction of the manufacturer’s original mark. Some guys refer to it as a “bug” We are licensed by Ford to reproduce the Ford logo and date scripting common between 1928 and 1963."

I have checked with 3 shops so far. Just waiting for quotes to make up my mind. I need the kit for my 1930 Town Sedan and a 1931 Victoria.
Thanks for the suggestions and help.

Order both at the same time. Shipping will be cheaper. You can get a glass price on the Sanders web sit. You can also check the shipping price but I don't know if that's a "we'll get back to you" option.
