34 Instrument lights

Still working on this 34 Roadster. Doing a complete rewire and pulled out the speedometer to clean and lube it. Question is , where are the light sockets for the speedometer? It has the window for the light but there’s no sockets or holders for sockets. I have another housing that has sockets but not sure what year it is. Thinking about mounting them onto the 34 speedometer housing.

Your other housing is 1935/36. Note that it has 3 mounting tabs not 2. 1934 had a light socket on a stem screwed to the back of the dash. An easy part to misplace,

For some goofy reason I have a light bracket here in my office, I believe it is for a 34, but can't be sure and also don't know which body style.

Anybody know?

That looks very much like it. I made one when I had the roadster project, the guy Deuce is talking about makes a perfect repo. 34 fabricator I believe is his name here

So, I’m assuming that bracket would be attached up in the top of the dash. I’ll need to take a look now that I know what I’m looking for. It might be in there.

What about the 35 pickup dash lights? I can't get mine bright enough to see. Can anyone "enlighten" me?

Sounds like the bulb is not getting a good ground.

Re: 34 Instrument lights

The instruments lights during the thirties were always hard to see, but you can fit LED bulbs into the sockets which helps quite a lot but still not up to modern standards of briteness. Regards, Kevin.

In the 33,34 those lights also slightly light up the floor below and the pedals.
