Sheet Metal Install

I bought my first "A" in 2024, a '29 35A phaeton at an auction, basically the body was just sitting loose on the frame, with a mountain of parts. The education I have gotten from this forum has been invaluable. My question is, what is the easiest and efficient sequence when installing the sheet metal, IE; radiator apron, running boards, splash shields, hood shelfs, fenders, radiator shell. Some of the pieces are aftermarket, some look original, so there will be a bit of fitting to put the puzzle together, and some cursing I'm sure, ha. Any advise would be most helpful, thanx.

Start by installing splash shields followed by front fenders. Then mount the body and align it to the frame. Install the radiator and establish the centerline. Mount the rear fenders to the running boards after they have been installed. Once all of those pieces have been installed and aligned, the shelves and front apron can be installed. Then align the front fenders and bend the fender braces to fit the fenders and headlight bar.

Have several long,10-12", punches available + hard wood flat levers you make to help adjust parts to fit frame holes and themselves. Blue tape on sheet metal to save from scaring. Lots of patience.

Thanx a bunch for the guidance, these steps will keep me from the ole "1 step forward and 2 steps back" routine.

Have one or two "helpers", that will not only assist.. but will sit quietly while you pre-fit, adjust and fit again, and again.! Don't work in a hot stuffy shop on a wk-end, with pressure mounting to complete a task before work on Monday, or trying to mount running board assemblies, just when your wife expects you to come in for a meal she has been working on to feed you and the helpers.! Maintain a sense of humor in the entire assembly process.!!

My question may be important for Klattu1929 too, so I don`t open a new threat.

I do have a 1929 Phaeton as well, and after the fenders, aprons, shelds and body will be painted, it has to be placed on the frame again.

I bought a set of body-frame-fixing bolts, but I wonder, where the different bolts have to be placed. Thankful for every hint!

One thing I cannot overstress in this is, -make sure and mock-fit EVERYTHING prior to any bodywork or paintwork. I understand the mindset to use alignment fixtures to pry pieces into fitment however if everything has been fitted properly, it isn't needed. It puts pieces into a bind or tension that really should not be needed.
