1933 Cowl Vent drain 1 Attachment(s)
I gotta coupla questions:
1) Does the '33 have a drain tube? 2) If so, Does the tube drain through the firewall? There is a 1/2" hole between the throttle and choke holes on the firewall. I looked at photos on the internet but they don't show a tube yet the firewall grommet kit I got includes a drain tube., |

1933 Ford Cowl Vent Opening. There is a very tiny drain hole at the front in the centre on the very inside part. Not visible in this photo. |

Drain Hose attached to Cowl Vent Drain Hole. This photo is under the Cowl of a 1934 Ford. Hope that this photo helps. |
Re: 1933 Cowl Vent drain OK! That confirms it. Thank yooo!

Re: 1933 Cowl Vent drain This might be a dumb question:
Does this drain tube extend down the firewall to beyond the frame? Or does it terminate AT the firewall? |
Re: 1933 Cowl Vent drain Protrudes about an inch thru the firewall.

Re: 1933 Cowl Vent drain OK, many thanks.

Re: 1933 Cowl Vent drain Please note that the photos in #3 and #4 are of '34 cowls. '33s do not have the screen shown in #4, nor do they have the rod that the screen attaches to. (The vent drain is the same for both model years and not affected by the presence of the screen or its attachment rod.)

Re: 1933 Cowl Vent drain David, I think you mean Photos 4 & 9 are 1934.
Photo 3 is definitely 1933. |
Re: 1933 Cowl Vent drain Trevor,
This underscores the disadvantage that the continued closure of the Benson Ford Research Center p poses for us. Of the nine '33s I've owed over the years, all but one were U.S.sourced and none of those eight cowls had screens or the rod to attach the screen. The ninth is a Canadian car and it has the screen attachment rod. Assuming that your examples are Australian, those cowls are also of Canadian manufacture, plus the delayed startup of '33 vehicle production in Australia could explain the difference in our experiences. |

I added this photo as it shows the detail that Henry put into the Cowls on these old Fords. All I can say is that this is definitely a 1933 Ford. Body Number 40P125 I purchased it back in 1967. Since sold. |
Re: 1933 Cowl Vent drain 2 Attachment(s)
Got that pesky little hose installed. Many thanks to all for taking the time to post pictures as I accept the reality of this rather insignificant and awkward looking protrusion of a tube on the firewall.
1933 and no screen in vent |
