36 Ford Transmission to Mercury EAC V8

Hey All,

What parts am I going to need to mount a 36 Ford Truck transmission to a Mercury EAC Engine?

Are the truck transmissions any different than the passenger cars that year?

Thanks,

You'll need the 3" '48-'52 truck or '49-'50 Mercury 1/2 bell housing, along with necessary clutch and flywheel mods, changes or additions.
The 1/2 ton truck 3-speeds are the same as pass car iirc. The heavy truck transmissions are much different, but will still need the same conversion parts.

What clutch setup are folks recommending and running?

This will be a fairly stock engine build. It will have a Max 1 cam and maybe dual carbs with headers so nothing gnarly about it. Just looking for a comfortable cruiser.

Historically, '49 or '50 Mercury clutches were used. These seem to be unavailable at the present time. I have heard that CenterForce or even Speedway Motors have replacements.

I have heard bad things about Speedway stuff. Centerforce sounds good.
