I usually don't like pre-war customs, but this one looks real good (even the skirts).

I too like originals, but I love this. DuVall windshield, Carson top, skirts, solid hood sides, shaved handles. Killer car.

HaHa. All the stuff that spoiled the "look" LOL
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder on this thing, definitely.

The problem....IMO.....Is when you "chop" the top, it makes the body of the car extraordinarily "thick" and the "smoothed" hood side add to largess of the body to make the look proportionally over-powering to the low duval windshield and chopped top!!! PLUS like others have stated.....33/34's, as designed are close to perfection of proportions and lines as you can get....33 more so than 34.......THINKING.......by and large.......one can "improve" the styling is lunacy at best!!!! Again....Just my opionion

Yes, sir. I just love it for the time period it was created. Westgard-era customs are right in my wheelhouse.

Sure, I totally get it. I just love the history of these modifications. Carson tops fascinate me. Originals are a holy grail item for customizers today. How he used chicken wire and newspaper to stuff them. They were never meant to last, but those that did are so rad.

Anyone know what those headlights are from? They almost look from a GM-era vehicle. Bumpers are a mystery too.

The bumpers look 37-ish Ford, hard to say from the angle. I do like the head lights per se'. One could play with both diameter and length to "perfect" the look but the over all feel is good!!!

Mark Skipper's recreation...

The car is featured in Rodders Journal #85

I believe the bumpers are Lincoln Zephyr, but I am sure that is spelled out in the TRJ feature.

Hey Neal - that is one pretty damn nice car . . . I had forgotten about it. What a beauty, though I'd still paint it and I do like the look of the stock louvers on the hood sides. (Plus, they take a LOT of heat out of the engine compartment!)

I also think it's beautiful, but would like to see how she looks with the skirts off.

Robert:

The expression is "By in large", which, to my knowledge, the meaning has never been explained. Go figger.
