https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimu..._United_States

Quote:

In the United States, the minimum wage is set by U.S. labor law and a range of state and local laws.[2] The first federal minimum wage was instituted in the National Industrial Recovery Act of 1933, signed into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, but later found to be unconstitutional.[3] In 1938, the Fair Labor Standards Act established it at 25¢ an hour ($5.58 in 2024).[4] Its purchasing power peaked in 1968, at $1.60 ($14.00 in 2024).[4][5][6] In 2009, Congress increased it to $7.25 per hour with the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007.[7]
Minimum wage is a hard thing to "quantify" against current market prices. The above comparison assumes the "Inflation Index" is correct - but that has been changed MANY times since the Government started publishing inflation numbers, and each change USUALLY politically motivated to lessen the optics.

I think to the $14,900 annual salary I was paid in my 1977 first year of engineering employment, which according to the current measure, is an annual income of $72,900, which is only slightly below my final year's salary of two years ago. Either engineering is not a good profession for advancement, or the numbers are skewed - and both might be correct.

Haha, I LOVE the "diversionary" commentary.

One could say they're off to "Make America Agricultural Again.

It takes all kinds to make a nation. The reason we all have differing ideas politically is so that one idea/ideal doesn't become our downfall.

And we should celebrate ourselves, and our founders for THAT ideal.

Jimmy was suprised when he was ticked for having more than one child under the age of 18 in the car with him.
