'41 brake adjustment
 

Regarding the anchor adjustment on my '41 Merc, I seem to recall that the punch marks on the adjustments that take a1/4" wrench go towards each other. Mine are away from each other. My Motors manual does not have an illustration with the punch marks, but rather arrows pointing toward each other.
I am going through a total brake adjustment to get more brake pedal. Help me out here! What is correct?

Sorry I can’t remember which way the dots go without going out and looking but here’s how I adjust them. Thanks Dick Spadaro RIP.
Start with adjusting shoes to barely drag. Then the anchors. You need a helper to apply firm pressure to brake pedal. Loosen lock nut the rock flat adjuster back and forth you may notice it’s travel decreases as you do this. Park it in the middle of its travel and jam locknut being careful not to move adjuster. Now do the other anchor adjuster. When both are adjusted go back and re adjust shoes again so they just drag a little.
Now repeat process on same wheel. I do this 2-3 times on each wheel. It only takes a few minutes to do complete brake adjustment. Honestly I don’t care where the dots line up. Has always worked perfect for me giving a great pedal.

I should not have bothered to start the thread, as I answered my own question. The shape of the cam is such that there is only one high point per 360*. I do agree it is worthwhile to go through the adjustment process several times. And thanks for the response KiWinUS!
