Wiper Vacuum Pipe 34 There are two vacuum line outlets on my 34 1st generation engine intake. One for the distributor, the other for the wiper. I can't help to notice the pipe for both can be pulled out of the fitting after tightening? Should there be a flair on the end of the copper pipe to seal it or is the straight pipe going through the fitting good enough to create enough vacuum seal to do the job for both functions? What did Henry do?

Re: Wiper Vacuum Pipe 34 1 Attachment(s)
Here are the fittings. There are 2, 3/8 NF thread ports on the intake ,left side. These are what go in there. The Push the line clear through the fitting and when you tighten it pinches the line.Fitting might be available at NAPA.The line is 3/16.

Re: Wiper Vacuum Pipe 34 Ahh, the famous "Ford Nuts".

Re: Wiper Vacuum Pipe 34 They have to be tightened quite a bit to get the proper crush and seal.

I've got the correct nuts/fittings but hadn't put much more than a snug tightening on them. I'm a little afraid of the brass nut or aluminum intake threads giving way. My past history with this sort of stuff tells me to be careful....too many times I've stripped the threads. Thanks for the response's guys! |
Re: Wiper Vacuum Pipe 34 If you have an old cast iron manifold use it to crush the fitting, just make sure the seat is nice
