Highway patrol possibly,…… where would you put the bad guys? Big wrestle to get them in the back seat.

That would have a 255 ci engine I suppose, it would keep with, or outrun, most of what was on the road at the time

The "police interceptors" of that time usually included the Mercury V8 to give them a few extra horsepower. Not sure it would make much difference if they were chasing a Mercury though. And by that time the Chevy OHV six was almost equal to the flathead V8 in horsepower.
