1937 Pickup Bed
 

I will have many questions as we proceed with a full restoration (stock) of my 37 Ford Pickup (Deluxe Package), but question for today is: does anyone have diagram or drawing or easy to follow instructions for how the bed is mounted?

The tailgate goes to the back of the vehicle.... Sorry, couldn't resist. It's dead of winter and I live in the middle of nowhere and I'm bored.. In reality I welcome you wholeheartedly to the Fordbarn forums, and not sure if you can post pictures before you have ten posts, but us pickup fans would love pictures and some history on your new acquisition.

Welcome to the Fordbarn! I have a stock 37 pickup andI could check out the bed mounting for you. Let me know what you’d like to see and I’ll try to get some pictures. Hopefully there’s someone who might have a diagram to show you the actual connection points.

Thanks so much for the reply!! I totally understand about being bored and love a person who adds humor to a conversation! I am 72 yrs old and a home improvement contractor - close to retiring - I THINK! I have a service connected disability from Air Force days (Vietnam era). I purchased my 37 Ford Pickup Deluxe from a man in CA about 15 yrs ago. It was originally owned by a dealership owner (have his name written down somewhere!). He could afford what he wanted and was told he preferred driving a pickup. Having the ways and means, he order this pickup with most every Ford accessory I believe Ford offered in 37!!!!!!! Most accessories were there but not in great shape. I have had all accessories rebuilt and/or restored. This took many years as I am having it restored as original as possible. Went thru 3 restoration guys until I found a GREAT one - only 1.5 hrs from my house in Knoxville, TN. First guy took it all apart 10 years ago. This is why I am unsure how something’s go back on! Current guy has restored earlier and later models but not a 37. A few accessories: chrome grille and windshield frame, S/S hood side louvre trim, clock on glove box, 37 radio, reading light on passenger wiper motor cover, rear sliding window, side mount spare tires with spyder hubcaps, Unity Sportlight Spotlight, light in glovebox, light under hood, and banjo steering wheel. You can see why restoration/repair has taken so long!!! This dealership is no longer in business but have the name of it as well. Starting with the bed question but restoration guy probably will have more!!! Thanks again for the reply!!!

Sounds like a neat truck that you have! Can you post some images? I have a '37 1/2 ton also, I'd be happy to provide details as needed. I'm 76 years old, retired carpenter, with an Air Force connected disability ( Vietnam era). I bought my truck from a guy in California about 20 years ago.

P.S. Do you have the center mounted bumper guard, it mounts differently than the others.:)

Hello Westy37,

I live in Modesto, California and have a '36 Ford pickup.

I don't know if the '37 pickup bed mounts the same as the '36 but here are some photos anyway.

Hope and maybe these pictures can help some with the pickup bed mounting.

Westy, I have a 1/2 ton deluxe pickup with lots of accessories as well. Sounds as if you have all of the hard deluxe items in hand. The map light and unique wiper motor cover are extremely rare. I have an extremely rare accessory Anthony bed which turns heads. If you need any help, please feel free to reach out.

I also have a ‘37 pickup. I bought it a few months ago. Following this thread. Sometime in its tragic past someone put a ‘63 chevy 327 in it. I’ll be fixing that mistake in a few months with a 59A.

Ford sold a fair amount of them but they were a one year wonder. The 38 & 39 shared a lot more parts and the 35 & 36 shared a similar amount but the 37 is sort of by itself. It's shares that situation with the 41 Fords in that respect.

Mack Hils has bed parts for the 37 but they don't have diagrams for any of their bed kits. They have some bed support wood but I don't know about the 37 models. It takes a while to look through their web site parts listings.

The two small blocks, laying over on the counter in the first picture, go under each corner at the rear of the bed. I have forgotten whether the small end is up or down. a piece of woven insulating strap (For the lack of he proper nomenclature, goes on top and bottom of each block, held on by small tacks. Bed bolt goes through bed,pad, block and frame.

I am flummoxed by your statement. What do you mean by "discovery" ? This issue is not being litigated.

This is my deluxe '37 truck. Along with the items visible in the photo, this truck had an elongated octagonal lamp on the wiper motor cover on the passenger side. I bought it about 15 years ago, a true barn find. I got its 8ba running while still on my trailer and drove it off when I got home. When I got my sawmill I sold it to buy the 2 ton with juice brakes. It went to someone in White Center Wa, SW of Seattle. Anybody know what became of it? Seller's remorse rears it's ugly head.....One more thing, was that Anthony bed a dump, and a product of the Anthony Hoist company?
