The problem I have is why would you take an essentially unmolested '32 sedan and from the start talk about modifying it. Hey, I understand it's yours to do what you want but does every Irontrap acquisition have to be hot-rodded. Matt made it clear it's not for sale either, till it's changed from stock and it becomes boring, just another car in the collection I guess.

At least Matt steps up when he has the opportunity. What he does later is his business. He has saved a lot of cars from oblivion. Can you say the same ?

I can. Over the last 60+ years I've saved several deuces, couple 3 windows, several 5 windows, several sedans and I think 4 roadsters all of which were deemed to bad for the restoration crowd. You can POO POO Iron trap and other people like me but I've done a hell of a lot better doing what I do than doing 100 point restorations. I've never demeaned the restoration guys unlike many of the restoration crowd does to guys like me.

C'mon, man. Boring? Maybe not your cup of tea like you state, but boring? As long as it's back on the road, what's the problem? To each his own, but I know a lot of guys who would say looking at bone stock Ford is boring.

I think this us vs. them is what drives a lot of young people out of the hobby and is what is ruining it for those looking to get in.

Face facts, no of us are getting younger and we all know someone who has a project that has been a basket case for years in their garage for "one day". That day is never going to come for these types of guys.

I applaud guys like Matt. He is doing his part to get them back out there and on the road.

I invite anyone to come over to my garage to hear my 292 full race, straight piped flathead start up. If it doesn't make your heart race a little faster, then I don't know what to tell you.

While I am all for the guys that are resurrecting marginal cars (and doing a fine job at it), the '32 sedan is a special case and I agree with those who believe it deserves to be respected and preserved for what it is. Whenever I go to shows lately, good original cars always attract a lot more interest than the finest restorations or modified cars.

Although it doesn't seem to be in vogue these days. I firmly believe that we sometimes we need to consider the benefit to society over our own needs.

Krylon, yesm you are the guy that gets it. several years ago I was at NSRA's York, Pa meet and a guy had a very nice model A coupe with a small scrap book on the cowl showing what he started with. He must have been a miracle worker to save what he started with. several restorers had passed on the car. There is room in this hobby for everyone. If you don't like what I do, or have, do your own thing. At least Matt got the car out of 40 year hibernation. How many cars that we know, or knew of got destroyed, or badly damaged when the building came down on them. When I lived in Connecticut a guy had several desirable Buicks in a barn. A dealer / collector made an offer for them. The owner passed on the offer. The next year the barn came down in a snow storm, and crushed the cars. He contacted the buyer about buying them now. The buyer told him to junk them now. Lesson learned.

Here's a bit of an update I talked to Matt yesterday on another subject. He told me his 13 year old nephew without any help was able to remove the 4 cylinder from the Tudor and now he is helping with installing a period correct Ford flathead V-8.

Think that's BORING Matt is nurturing another generation so our great hobby will survive for a hell of a long time. Any chance I get I do the same heck my new race car driver is only 30 years old and a female at that she already has a record at Bonneville in her name driver a race car powered by a fast Ford flathead V-8 . So there's going to be a much younger generation to carry the torch for many more years to come. Mostly thanks to us dreaded Hot Rodders!

The tudor has a 4 banger...? with a 25 louver hood? one or the other maybe switched out at some time... might be an original v8 18-chassis.
