Top Removal Tips and Tricks

I am getting ready to remove the top on my ‘31 Tudor.

Any tips or tricks or tools to remove all the nails?

I got a little prybar off Amazon and it promptly snapped in half on the first nail. Cheap $&@! garbage.

What has worked for you?

Okay, so it turned out to be easier than I thought...

I went to HD and bought a Milwaulkee pry bar, its the smallest one they have that has a 90 degree bend on one end.

The first nail I tried to pull (and busted my original tool on) was an oversized nail that was a booger to get out. I guess that scared me a bit. All the rest came out fairly easy. Most of them too easy. Once I get the interior dismantled I will access the wood and see what needs to be replaced.

I found that my front rounded roof sections are both pretty rusted out over the windshield post. The previous rustoration folks used some kind of cloth tape to cover over the carnage and smooth things out. I will be replacing these panels. Hopefully the windshield post isn't too bad when I get everything taken apart.
