Re: Collapsed barn find Ive tried talking to owers of suchthings and even after the stuctures fail like this they still won't let go. Then ther's the guy that buys the land and just takes the dozer to the whole thing and won't let anybody pull any parts out either. So sad. Tim

Re: Collapsed barn find Its not surprising the location is in Pennsylvania. For some reason maybe because the AACA fall meet in Hershey a large amount of older vehicles can be found. Even if not being for sale. Heck just Monday of this week a nice original 32 Ford Tudor sedan was found in PA along with a nice model A Ford roadster. At least these two cars are now finally out from their very long hibernation. They are still out there.

Re: Collapsed barn find I am afraid most of us have a tendency towards this affliction, I know I do. Because every time i sell something I have sellers' remorse.

I rescued my 1936 Model 51 1-1/2 ton panel truck from a barn collapse. Only one big beam had fallen on the windshield frame, but the next big storm the rest of the barn was going to fall in an crush the truck. It was a bit of a treacherous extraction, but I got it out before the barn went down completely.
First picture is the way the project started. I had to remove the debris and then the remaining roof one square foot at a time. Then yanked it out into the sunshine and then finally got it into my garage. It was a long several days work. |

Re: Collapsed barn find Dave, you were super lucky to find that young guy who was willing to help you rescue the truck.

Re: Collapsed barn find Tim - Thanks. My goal was to save it and it is. Now I need to find a permanent home for it as I just can't manage any more projects. I've collected a lot of parts (fender, grill, etc.) but it's fairly rough and needs a lot of work. Hopefully someone will want to undertake the preservation or restoration.
Ken - See how quickly I've aged in 5 weeks!! The rescue was in 2015, so 10 years ago, but all the aging has happened since Jan 1. |
Re: Collapsed barn find Great save!!

Re: Collapsed barn find 4 Attachment(s)
Fifteen years ago. Many attempts to buy/rescue these two fell on deaf ears and then they were gone.
