https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...p;d=1738622322 This is my mates new purchase, a recently imported 1948 Ford F-1. Are the front fenders the same dimensions for the F-1 and F-2 on 1948-1950 Ford Pick-Ups? I know that they are different for the larger trucks. |

Re: 1948-1950 Ford Pick-Ups I'm gonna venture an F1. I can't recall an F2 with a 6 1/2' bed, and I don't think those hub caps would clear the F2's full floating rear axle. As far as fenders, in the years before '48 any 3/4 ton had the big truck fenders. IIRC the 3/4 ton rated pickup was introduced in the 1939 model and shared the tonner's 8' express bed. In '46 and '47 the 3/4 ton had been discontinued, to be brought back as the F2 in '48,

Re: 1948-1950 Ford Pick-Ups Based on the pics, that is an F1.
In particular - the front fender openings (F2 had larger wheel opening) and the bed (6.5 foot). The F2 versions had 8 foot express beds and shared front fenders with the F3-F6 conventional cab models. |

Australian 1949 Ford Freighter. Firstly, Australia never adopted the nameplate F-1 locally. They were call Freighters Secondly, you an see that Australia positioned the Parking Lights on the outside of the headlights. I believe that in this position, they were in a safer location. They give a better indication of the width of the vehicle, especially at night. |

Re: 1948-1950 Ford Pick-Ups I think the fenders on my F3 '53 were the same as a F2. The bed however was the Express 9 foot! Fooled any lumberyard employee loading 8' 2x4's!

1948-1950 Australian Ford Big Truck I don't believe that the fenders for the F2-F6 are the same? This picture shows the Grille on the largest Ford Trucks offered here in Australia. Possibility the equivalent of the F-6. Take a look at the Grille and you will notice that it wider than the smaller trucks of this era. On the Pick-Ups, the Grille Bars end where the Fenders join to the middle section. On this big Ford Truck, you can that the Grille Bars extend past this join. From this, it is obvious that these fenders would not be interchangeable with those on an F-2. |

Compare the Grille of this 1949 Ford Freighter with the Grille in the above photo. You can easily see the differences between the two vehicles - small and large. |
