1942 jailbar driveshaft problem

A friend of mine is tearing his truck apart and ran into this . He said his machine shop said "maybe they can weld it ". Like to find another one for him if possible. I'm a half-ton guy. Don't really know about this part

This is the big truck hand brake drum part #01T2614 Used from 1940 to 1955, maybe longer. My truck parts book only goes to 1955. Should be plentiful as they are bolted behind the truck 4 speed Warner T9. Lots of those on the stone walls around New England. Got one on one of my walls I think. May have stripped if off a while ago. Too cold and windy to look today but should be a easy find closer to home.
