3 on the tree..going to the floor I have a 55 ford Fairlane and need to remove the column shifter and put in a floor shift.
What is the simplest and easiest way to remove the shifter tube from the column ? T:cool:he car and interior are in finish paint. If I don't remove shifter tube what suggestions do you have ? thanks |
Re: 3 on the tree..going to the floor The main problem will be the shift lever socket.
As far as I know there is no replacement lever socket like a later floor shift car. Stripping everything else from the steering column should be simple. |
Re: 3 on the tree..going to the floor Dorf55, this is what I did with my 1955 Ford Club Sedan: https://www.hotrodreverend.com/post/...n-blog-part-11
To each their own, but when I went with the period Hurst syncro-loc shifter I wanted to not only remove the column shift lever but replace with a shaft. I am very happy with the end result. |
Re: 3 on the tree..going to the floor Thanks you !

Much nicer install than flat-rating it. |
