1942/46 Ford Bumpers - are fronts the same dimensions as rears? 1 Attachment(s)
Other than the rear bumpers having the Ford script and the front bumpers having a center hole are they the same? It looks like the inner bolt holes might be closer to center on the front bumpers?
As in, can I run a rear Ford script bumper on the front? Thank you as always for your help. (picture taken from eBay) |

This is what I'm curious about, I assume this is just a rear bumper mounted on the front.

Re: 1942/46 Ford Bumpers - are fronts the same dimensions as rears? The '46 front and rear bumpers do nest well suggesting that the dimensions are perhaps identical, as Graeme mentioned.

Re: 1942/46 Ford Bumpers - are fronts the same dimensions as rears? The bumpers and irons I found have the center holes wider apart on the rear one as compared to the front one. No idea of what year as they were swap meet finds.

Re: 1942/46 Ford Bumpers - are fronts the same dimensions as rears? I am in the process of removing front and rear bumpers from my 1942 Mrcury Town Sedan prior to sandblasting. What can I do to help with this question? Reversing them and loosely mounting them in the existing brackets? Would that answer any concerns? Might be a day or so, nut and bolts are soaking in PB Blaster, but should have off by this weekend.
Let me know how to help. |
