Front Fender

I just acquired a 29 Model A pick-up from a estate auction. I'm sure I'll have a million questions in the near future, so here's a start. It needs front fenders. Will a model A car front fender bolt up to a pick-up? I heard they were larger to accommodate bigger wheels, but I'm not sure about that. If it must be pick-up fenders, where is a good source? I see lots of Model A car fenders, but I haven't found any truck fenders. Fiberglass would be OK.

The pickup used the fenders from the passenger cars. The larger trucks (usually identified as AA) used larger wheels/tires and had a larger well in the fender to accommodate them. Put your general location in your profile, sometimes it will pay off in unexpected ways.

+1 - Fenders have to be one of the most expensive items to ship. Go on the MAFCA and MARC web sites. Find a local club and join. Put out the word locally what you need and one will probably turn up.
There is a cachet with being able to call your A "all steel". Fiberglass parts also will limit your resale and reduce the value.

Stumann: find a local model a club in your area (St. Louis?) Join and I'm sure you'll get those steel fenders and more at a reasonable price. "A" people are friendly people. LRF

Craig's List sometimes works too. In the link below for Craig's list for Saint Louis is a collection of Model A parts, including fenders, for $50.

Thanks for all the help so far (I'm sure I'll need more in the future). It turns out I got a 30-31 truck (no title). That solves a lot of problems for me as far as what I need. I have a friend in the Missouri Valley Model A Club, which is a chapter of the Model "A" Restorer's Club. I'm hoping he can point me in the right direction for some parts and advice.

FYI.. 30 or 31 fenders are different than 28-29.

Before you sink any more time, effort or money in your truck, get a title in your name! I dunno what that entails in MO - consult your local DMV.

The lady at the DMV can be very unhelpful.

I just wanted to expand on why it is VERY important to get the title into your name. If at some point in the vehicles history it was stolen, it will probably be confiscated and returned to the rightful owner who will thank you for any work you have done on the vehicle. The second reason is that taxes and fees will probably be based on the value of the vehicle when you register it (it would be that way in California), you want it to be as low as possible. Also, in California if you don’t register a vehicle within a short period of time they will add an extra fee to the registration. A final thought is that the more time that elapses the more people will forget the details of the transaction.

Another topic, post photos as soon as you can. Cell phone photos are fine. The software won’t allow you to post large, high-resolution photos.

Don't confuse getting a title with getting it registered. A title puts it in your name. Registration allows you to drive it on public roads.
Check your DMV - it may be easy to get a title. Apply for the title at the minimum point of assembly they require. Go armed with the fact that the serial number for the A was the number stamped on the engine. That number may also be on the chassis but hidden. Your state may want to assign an ID number to your car and put that number on the chassis or body - that's not a big thing in the A world.
CA will not title an incomplete car. If it's not in their system they will want receipts for all the major parts and you'll pay tax on that sum. This is where it comes in handy to have several friends with different pens, paper and handwriting...... Since it's currently just parts without a title CA would not limit the transfer time.
