Hello everyone, my name is Pablo.
I don't have a Ford A, but I want one.
I was driving one the last year and I loved it, I hope soon I'll have my own one.
I'm living in Frederick, MD.

Any advise will be welcome. I have mechanical knowledge but not experience in the model A.

Thank you Y-Blockhead (I updated my profile ... ) and BBitturff.
I love to travel by secondary and dirt roads y my bike and camping too. My wife almost hates motorcycles (I have 4 motorcycles...).
I plan to have a Ford A (a guess so far a Tudor) and make the same trips I made on my bikes, camping included, with the car, making my wife part of the plan. She loves the idea.
Is the Tudor Ford A a good option for my plan?
Any suggestions?

Join your local club. Baltimore or George Washington chapter may be closest.

One benefit of belonging to a local Model A club is they will know most of the A's in their area. They'll likely know what's for sale, where it's been, what's been done to it and can advise you of the fair market value. Also, most clubs have extremely knowledgeable members that would be willing to go with you to inspect one that you're interested in.

Pablo welcome to the forum.

Before you know it you and your wife will be driving your A. Be prepared to get many thumbs up, honks, smiles and comments like my dad used to drive a Packard just like that.

Welcome to the Barn pjminervini. You have come to the right place. Do not be afraid to ask questions, someone here will either have the answer or point you in the right direction.

If you haven't checked out YouTube check out Paul Shinn, he has a ton of videos on the Model A.

Thank you guys,

I'll try to contact the local chapter using the mafca link.

talking with a friend today he told me one of his friends has a 1929 A model for at least 20 or 25 years and nobody has used it for the last 10 years ... he will check what he wants to do with that car. It is funny, the first friend I talk about it and he knows about a potential car to buy.
Looks like there a lot of Model A around there.

Craig's List is also a good source for cars that are for sale. The asking prices can be outrageous, but you can always submit an offer. See Craig's List for Frederick:

I found one on Craigslist (thanks for the advise), but I cant share it with you guys because I'm new here.

Just in case any of you know about this car, is a 4-door, 1929 in Eden, MD.

Make sure the structural wood in that 1929 "4-door" is GOOD!!! That body is built around a wooden structure. If the wood is bad, you will have a heck of a time opening and closing the doors, besides body drooping. Replacing the wood in a Fordor is no easy or cheap task, especially for a first-time Model A owner. Lift up and down on the open doors to see if they "give". Inspect how they close and if the body lines are in alignment. Lift up the floormat and/or carpet and with an ice pick, poke around in the wooden floor rails to see if the wood is rotten. If the hood doesn't line up reasonably well vertically at the front of the cowl, the wood is bad up front, allowing cowl to deflect.
Buying a Model A or Model T Fordor of any flavor (except 1931 slant windshield bodies) is a risky proposition if the wood is bad. If you find signs of rotted wood, thank the seller and walk away. There are LOTS of good Model A's out there for sale. Take your time and pick the right one for your budget, mechanical skills and family needs. A flashy roadster with no rumble seat will not be ideal for a family man with four kids. Choose accordingly.

I agree with Marshall, thoroughly check the car, there are plenty out there to be had, for a price. Better to start with something good, this way you can enjoy.
