Ecz 9425 a/b This has undoubtedly been answered before. If so I just need a link.
What's the difference between ECZ 9425 A and ECZ 9425 B intake manifolds other than price? Thanks |
Re: Ecz 9425 a/b Port and carb sizes. The A model fits the small bore Holley Teapot, and the early WCFB Carter. Relatively small intakes. The B model fits the larger square bore carbs li,e the modern ones. Used in 1957 for the new model Holley. Think 4160 etc.
Bigger ports, flows more air. Consequently more popular for performance builds. That’s the simple version. |

Re: Ecz 9425 a/b I hear that in 1957 Holley made a new 4-barrel carb for ford, to replace the teapot carbs. I heard that all the Holley 4-barels we use today are basically that variations of that same design for 1957. Any one know if that is true? When you think about it, and look at Holley 4-barrels it sure seems logical.

One reason for the new design, was because the hood lines were lowering, and the previous Holley 4000 teapot carb was a lot taller. Sal |
Re: Ecz 9425 a/b Just as important to some, that base pattern opens up the way to many more carburetors. Older and new “clones” of the Carter and Autolite’s also fit. So pic your poison.
Watch the base clearance on the air cleaner (I know my 55 bird didn’t clear the Edelbrock AFB clone) and hood clearance of course. |
Re: Ecz 9425 a/b Although the 1957 Holley 4-barrel carburetor was a 4150, it more closely resembles Holley's 4160 carburetors; both are single-feed on the driver's side. For some years, the 4150 carburetors have been dual-feed on the passenger side. The replacement carburetors that Tbird suppliers sell are 4160s and now have electric chokes.
