Hi,

I have a question about the part below.

How do you mount this? Just make a hole in the hose and tighten it tightly? Is there no need for anything in between, no sealant or glue or anything like that?

Looking forward to hearing from you, thanks in advance.

I have not needed sealer when using one of these on an original type lower radiator hose. I did have to use sealer when installing one in a silicone lower radiator hose (used silicone on a 38 because of how hard it is to get the factory lower hoses on, not a problem on a 41).

Yes, thats it, just tighten it up. While thats how Ford did it, I drilled a hole in the water pump like this...

This stuff has been around for decades and there's a reason for that... IT WORKS. I use this on each and every water hose connection I install.
About $3 at your local NAPA store.

What has worked for me in the past is to use the PermaTex sealant and modern worm clamps, tightened down well. Run the car for a few weeks and then carefully remove the worm clamps without disturbing the hose connection. Install vintage or period correct clamps and tighten as well as they can. The sealant keeps the connection from leaking and you get the appearance and as much function as you can from the vintage hose clamps.

I thoroughly cleaned the area where the nipple exits the hose inside and outside with lacquer thinner and applied a liberal coating of 3M Black weather strip adhesive on both sides of the hose and nipple clamps. Allowed the adhesive to become slightly "tacky" and clamped it all together. Happy to report it is holding well with no leaks.

I use a hole punch to make a perfectly round hole that the adapter just goes through, easily done off the car on the bench with a piece of wood inside. Never had a leak. Make sure you mark on the hose to get the angle you want before making the hole.

Perfect advice!
