41 3/4 Ton truck front spring question good morning folks. Any suggestions on how to remove the front spring from the frame? the bracket has a slot that you'd think would allow the spring pin to slide through, but that's not appearing to work. Are you supposed to get the pin out first, then the spring will drop? Confused....

Re: 41 3/4 Ton truck front spring question You need to remove the nut on each end plus the washer that is in a recess.

Assuming your 3/4 T front spring assembly is similar to the 40 Tonner's assembly do the following: 1. Position a jack or blocks under the rear of the spring to prevent it from dropping to the floor. Remove all 4 nuts off the rear spring anchor. Remove the two dog bones that hold the the spring to the frame. Allow the spring to rotate down to the jack or blocks then lower it to the floor. Photo 1 2. Loosen the two nuts holding the spring to the frame in the front taking care to support it while doing so. It will want to drop out of the slot. Photo 2 The use of a rust penetrant or a nut splitter may be needed at either location to get the nuts off. |
Re: 41 3/4 Ton truck front spring question Thanks! turns out the washers on the front bolts were stuck in place and rusted, didn't see they were there. Got those out and removed spring! Thanks!
