Scam?? I posted a want to buy ad for a 36 Pickup rear bumper. I did not include my phone number but got a phone text from [email protected] with this picture. I did not include my phone number in the ad. I asked what his Ford Barn user name was and the response was "Someone on The Ford Barn asked me to contact you". Sounds kind of scetchy to me, what do you think? Art

Re: Scam?? Scam!!
The "carpart" name is a real tipoff. Do a search on it. |
Re: Scam?? Yep, total scam

Re: Scam?? Wanted ads are prime fodder for scams. Almost to the point of not posting them.

Re: Scam?? Perfect. Tel him you will take it and ONLY PAY WITH REGULAR PAYPAL. If he’s ligit. Perfect you have a bumper and if you don’t receive it you can claim a full refund from PayPal. Too easy and your covered with nothing to lose and possibly a bumper you need to gain. These scammers are not too difficult to handle you just have to be smart about it.

Re: Scam?? Don’t go any further with it. 1000% a scam

Re: Scam?? It's a cruel world out there. Be safe. How else are we supposed to buy and sell parts. It's a leap of faith, but some precaussions can be taken.
1. Tell him you have a friend in the area that can stop by and pick this up. 2. Ask about a shipping estimate. Most scammers will tel you that they will ship for free. 3. Ask for a photo of a certain angle or to hold up a piece of paper with todays date on it. 4. Ask to pay with CC or Paypal or mail him a money order. Most scammers want Vendmo or Bitcoin or some sort of gift card. 5. Sometime you can Google search the item and find the exact same photo on another site. The scammer took your WTB ad and Google search for an image of it, that is what he is sending to you, so you should be able to find it as well. You exercised good common sense by coming here for support. Your spider senses were tingling. Only the greedy fall for too good to be true deals. Report back what happens. |
Re: Scam?? Art, You have been up this creek at least twice before in 2022 and 2023 what gives? Its a flat out SCAM. Just hit the delete button, don't waist time. OR just report it as a scam. no response necessary.

Re: Scam?? Here is the name and address that carpart850 sent me. As Tony said, just do the PayPal payment and you’re safe. He sent me pictures something totally different from what I wanted and said he was parting out this car. I asked for pictures with the days date on a piece of paper as well.

He replied "I don't think we speak the same language |
Re: Scam?? Highbeams, I’ve got a stoon pipt ploof, but it’s not green. If still interested, send your PayPal payment to…..

Re: Scam?? The scammers don't have to be careful to fool us. They only have to be patient and prolific. We are the ones that have to be watchful and careful.

Re: Scam?? My favorite for or to weed out a scammer is to ask what city and state and address they are located.....Because I "ALWAYS" have a family member that lives "RIGHT" they say. I google earth the location/address and find either the local police station or big department store closest to that address AND that "THEY" will meet them at the local police station OR at the local wal mart parking lot with the local law enforcement officer as a witness to the parts/CASH exchange!!! That usually ends the correspondence right then!!!
BUT "ANY" email I get that starts with "carpart" I delete.....I don;t even look to see IF its from a yahoo or Gmail or whatever. "DELETE" |
Re: Scam?? Thank you, i was just contacted by [email protected]. Contacting me outside the forum and wanting to sell me a part. Im so grateful for this post.

Re: Scam?? Apparently he goes by the name: Khan Nabiha Noman
I responded to him by using his name and he didn't respond back. Details to be wary of; Carpart - [email protected] email etransfers to [email protected] Name to be wary of "Khan Nabiha Noman" |
Re: Scam?? I had a truck for sale and the buyer wanted to have a friend pick it up and give me a check for $500 more that my asking price. He wanted me to hand over my truck and $500 change. What could be wrong with that.
I told him that vehicle sales in my state had to be notarized and that we could go to my wife's office a couple of blocks from my home and she could notarize it. I said that she worked for the local Police Chief. Never heard from him again... Chap |
