Tail light harness 1946 Ford Hello Ford barn, Can anyone tell me how to route the tail light harness in my '46 ford? Do I run it under the headliner over the driver door and down the A pillar or under the rug to the power source?
Thanks, Mike Jackson [email protected] |
Re: Tail light harness 1946 Ford Let me start by saying that I am not a 46 guy, but based on the wiring diagram on Mac Van Pelt’s website I would say it definitely does not go in the headliner. Attached is a link to this diagram. It looks like it attaches at the same location as the headlight harness, which I guess is in the engine compartment. Then, I think the harness would route along the inside of the frame rail, similar to my 1937.

Re: Tail light harness 1946 Ford Thanks Zeke,
I have seen that diagram but was uncertain. My car was a shell when I bought it and I have purchased all new original wire harnesses. Now for the daunting task of rewiring it! Thanks again, Mike |
Re: Tail light harness 1946 Ford Taillight harness hooks up down near the bottom of the firewall and is routed thru the frame. I just rewired my 46 and a few years ago did my 42 which is almost identical. Used the Dennis Carpenter harnesses. The sequence I used was 1) under dash harness 2) headlight/horn harness and three taillight harness last.
