... we cut the cord on Cable a long time ago, should have done it years earlier. With a Smart TV and fiber optic broadband, there is more than enough to watch all for free, and if you go to YouTube there are MANY videos of old cars in their natural glory, like the Old Car Festival in Dearborn, etc.


Paul Shinn is on there with Model A tips, and other folks too. Fun to watch on a big screen TV!

I just use an antenna on the roof.I tried cable,I dropped it in my 30 day trial period.Then I tried it with the fiber optic supplier.and they dropped the TV part and went strictly internet within a few weeks of me signing on.My TV acts the same as it did when I was a little kid.If a little weather or wind affects it I can find a channel that is not affected,or read or listen to the radio.

Personally i cant stand tv anymore half the shows i cant get into other then maybe some sports and the news i dont watch tv much anymore i much rather use the internet you can do everything that you can with tv and more.Like Jeff said lots to see and do on YouTube not to mention the Ford Barn of course :D

Go on YT and type in the search box Old Cars Festival Dearborn night parade!!

It is a hoot to watch:) Better than any show that the Hollyweird people can put out guaranteed.

Type in anything Model A Ford there are hours of great videos to watch... all free.

See if you can spot Brent Terry in a Model T!!

For how over priced tv is now it is not worth having anymore.Internet is not cheap either but atleast you get most of your money's worth out of it

Yes!!! Like at 6:00 AM when the cartoons started on Saturday morning. There was an electronic tone that accompanied that test pattern, followed by color bars for 30 seconds. Then the fun began - a full morning of cartoons, with "Fury" and "My Friend Flicka" mixed in mid-morning! Great memories, indeed. 'Sure would like to go back to those days for a time. "Th-Th-Th-That's all, Folks!!!"

I forgot about the test pattern. We used to get that at 11pm on a tv that got 4 channels in only black and white, had a 14" screen and probably weighed 400 lbs.

Talk about changes in technology. My daughter just bought a 78" flat screen that is about 1-2" thick, weighs 100 lbs, goes 24 hours, color, with a zillion channels and more than 90% of those channels are crap.

The first place I rented, someone gave me a huge old TV they wanted to get rid of from their garage.
The screen displayed slightly warped.
There was a vast range of knobs (no idea what they did) to twiddle with each night when the test pattern came on at 11pm.

I remember a war movie where the tanks seemed to be going backwards and then forwards coming up and over the hill.

Here in rural North Idaho, we just have a few streaming apps and digital over the air, using a very thin square antenna against the interior north wall of the house. We get 4-5 local channels, depending upon weather, etc. Nope, no satellite TV for us, where you pay for a lot of channels that you don't watch! Agree with those about YouTube.
