Possible to clean this stain in a temp gauge?

2 Attachment(s)
Guys I have a working 35 temp gauge. But the glass tube is so stained internally from the fluid it’s hard to see the fluid now. The level doesn’t seem to be affected. It goes to the bottom of the tube in cold water and up to the level shown in just under boiling water. Anyone have experience with this? Possibly to heat the glass with a flame??? I don’t want to damage it but there’s seems to be not many options?

Not possible IMO.

I believe duece lover is correct, not possible.

I agree with the above, and would advise care in handling, do not allow the vial to be inverted below the bulb, to prevent bubbles from entering the tube.
There are those who claim they can repair broken ones, but working originals, even in condition as your is, are vastly superior to a repaired gauge.

I have had reasonable success on mine using pipe cleaners and trial and error with household cleaning products. They were certainly all better in the end than when I first started!

I would try to have the internal fluid clean the stain by cycling the fluid up and down many times, otherwise have the gauge rebuilt. The temperature gauge is fully sealed.

Dan
Check out "straight-Eight" web site: https://straight-eight.com/product-c...rg-parts-list/, IF you go down on the left side to parts list, they Have King-Sealy & Hobson listed.....click on that and they have "several" replacement glass tubes with lines attached, some more pricey than others but "Maybe" and new one can be sourced??? AS well as other parts listed for the King Sealy gauges

The OP is talking about a Temp gauge, not a Hydrostatic fuel gauge.
