Identifying LZ gears How can I tell a set of LZ gears from regular Ford sets ? One of my spare transmissions supposedly has them .
Thanks , Gary |
Re: Identifying LZ gears What is the tooth count on the large front gear on the cluster gear? LZ’s were either 25 or 26 teeth.

Re: Identifying LZ gears There are lots of gears. Gotta go to Mac VP's sight and study the tooth count and application charts

Re: Identifying LZ gears Common main drive gear tooth count is 15 or 16. LZ is 18 or 19. I use the oil hole for reference and can count this pretty quick. Common cluster is 28 or 29 (big end) and LZ is 25 or 26. Harder to count in a dirty, oily transmission. Rule of 44: 15/29, 16/28, 18/26, 19/25.

Re: Identifying LZ gears The standard gears are 16/28 if I remember correctly.

Re: Identifying LZ gears Put a grease pencil mark on one of the teeth of large gear on the lower cluster. Count as you rotate. If it is 25 or 26, you have an LZ gear set.
