I am looking for some mirrors for my truck. I like the way these 52 truck mirrirs fit to the hinge. Is there a better choice with out drilling holes in the door?

Similar mirrors show up on eBay with decent frequency. Check out Chevy and GMC listings in that era.
I'll bet you can find something that will satisfy your desire.

I wish that was true. There is only one of this style mirror on eBay and it’s $250
Mac’s had them for $25 a side but they are out of stock now

On my ‘52 F-1, I cut down the shaft (p/n 17688) about 1-1/2 to 2 inches because it looked really long… more for an F-6. Gotta redrill the hole at the hinge bracket, obviously. It works great.

Thanks. That’s the type of info I am seeking. I tried those hinge pin dental mirrors but I can’t see anything with them so I want something bigger but not huge like the mirrors that were on the truck when I got it.see picture

Re: 52 truck mirrors what should I get?

Unfortunately they don’t reproduce those anymore. Carpenters used to be the one to do that and people like Chuck’s used to sell them. The mirror 5” heads are still available from United and on eBay new. However technically the 52 truck was a one -year -only deal and came with 6” round mirror heads. So the difficult part is going to be getting your mirror arm to attach to the hinge. Getting a mirror head and even fabricating a mirror arm isn’t that difficult. It’s the bracket that attaches to the hinge and arm that’s the issue.

Recently on eBay , however I’ve seen vintage clamp on peep mirrors that have larger heads. They seem nice. Alternatively if you could find some vintage Yankee or other NORS type of 5” mirror set up those would be more likely to find than a set of FOMOCO ones. Yankee mirrors used to have a simpler design for attaching to the door hinge, probably more easily reproduced than the OEM design. If you were to go that route.

The mirrors that Rawlir has for sale match what my original ‘52 F-1 has (driver side only on mine). As I said previously, I shortened the arm because I thought it was too long. It works great.

On my ol' buddy Lance's 51 we used the 47 pickup chrome brackets and mirrors. We cut off the lower hinge pin eye verticaly and put a nice 5/16" round head common machine screw in the locking bolt hole. We had guys ask us where we got those brackets at almost every show or run we attended. I wish I had some pictures as they looked great but Lance is gone and so is his truck.
