Truck brake rod guides rubber or? I want to fix the brake rod guides on a BB truck. It looks like the originalls had vulcanized rubber on them. I'm thinking grommets or even just gooping silicone on them in an artful fashion. Any ideas on this?

Re: Truck brake rod guides rubber or? They were vulcanized rubber where the rods pass through and can be restored with the right size rubber grommet glued (with liquid rubber) in place. Wipe or spray some silicone on the rods in the immediate area of where they pass through the guides to reduce the friction, which is what causes the rubber portion of the guides ultimately to fail.

Re: Truck brake rod guides rubber or? In my list of future projects is the restoration of these brackets. I have the original metal parts and can mold new rubber to them. I just have a lot of other projects in front of this so it will be a while. I'll try to remember you when I get around to casting them.
