Broken wire I broke one of the wires to the ignition switch. It just happen to be the one with the vinyl wrap, wound in steel. It took a while to get the wrap off, Then I manage to unwind the cable and strip the cloth off. Put a terminal on and then put back the dash panel. It starts And runs. That was my project for the day. Now for some turkey. :)

Re: Broken wire Soutpaw, LOL:
Good job. You have a wire that runs from your ig switch to the distributor that is wound with steel wrapping and all covered in viny???? |
Re: Broken wire I assume the OP is referring to armored wire or cable. This is the type that has regular insulation with an armor of spiral wound metal. It is generally aluminum wrapping but could be some other form of metal. These wires are sometimes used for electric wiper motors and dash lights for the 30/31 types. The ignition cable with this type armor is available from sources as is the original Electro-Lock type heavy wire wound armored cable. Restoration Supply Company carries the armored wire with single or multiple conductors as well as a few other sources.
