Looks like maybe a set of distributor centrifugal weights?

Re: First V8

Hello, those early V8 s were in a constant state of development, with the owners being the “field testers “. Hard to correctly restore them with changes happening almost weekly it seems. From what I have read Ford was offering new engines available in March 1933 ! for the 1932 models, that owner could buy , also a lot of pistons changed out under warranty.

Is that engine still in the Henry Ford museum? I remember seeing it there in 1956 or 7.

Maybe he's just winding his watch.

I thought if it was points he would have the distributor open, anyway, didn't the V8 have dual points?

Looks like the dual-point distributor plate to me.

That fan was used in 1932 to clear the coil.

If you're asking when did the 4 cylinder engines go with a 4 blade fan, I read that the 4 blade was originally used on 33-34 Model BB trucks; maybe '32 also, but not certain. The idea being the big trucks moved at slower speeds with heavy loads so the engineers wanted to move more air. Others here may have more accurate info.
