‘34 window installation I have seen several conversations about 34 Ford front door window glass installation. This method worked well for us.
This will require two people to complete, one to manipulate the window crank while the other holds the glass. The window channel has four sections; front large one which goes in the lower front, rear large which goes in the upper rear, a small channel which goes in the lower back, and the long section of channel which is the top and upper section. Install window track on glass all the way toward the back of the glass leaving just enough room for the glass to slide in the small rear window channel when rolled up and down. (Roughly 3/4” from the rear edge of glass) Install the front large channel down in the door and the small rear channel in the door. (The rear large channel and long top channel will be installed once the window is in the door.) Roll regulator arms to the top where spring loaded rollers are closest together at the top of the door. Insert window at roughly a 45* angle with the front side down. Get the lobe and pivot for the smokers window inserted and toward the front of the door. Then level the window horizontally and use crank mechanism to align the spring loaded rollers to the inside of the window track. Begin rolling the window down to engage the rollers with the track using the factory holes in the top of the door for access to rollers. A long screwdriver is handy to help alignment. (If the window starts to bind as you roll down, adjust the window forward or back by hand as you manipulate the handle to keep the rollers in the track and adjust fore and aft to relieve binding. This is where two people required.) Crank regulator to move the right arm back enough to the center to insert the pin into the track for the smokers window, then roll all the way up and completely engage the smokers window feature to properly align the track to the rollers. The window should roll up and down freely now and allow you to insert the rear large channel and long section of top small channel. The window installation should be complete at this point. |
Re: ‘34 window installation Thanks for the tips. I just got my first 34 and will file this away for reference when I get to assembly.

Re: ‘34 window installation In addition the window track should be lubed with something like white lithium as the “rollers” do not rotate, but slide.
