wheels bearing hello guys i must to change my rear wheels bearings,on my 1956 lincoln premiere, what tools do you use to pull out them? thanks for help
|
Re: wheels bearing It has to be taken to a machine shop to have the bearings pressed off and on.
Don't forget new axle seals. |
Re: wheels bearing And then change the brake shoes and then while apart clean everything up and then change the rear end fluid and while you’re under there lube the zert fittings and then spray a little oil around the leaf springs and then check the undercoating and then…..;). ;)
Things just seem like they snowball eh Kultulz? |

In the real world, the outer bearing race will be stuck/rusted in the axle housing. First, put the drum on loosely and backwards with 3 nuts, and use like a slide hammer to pop the axle out. Next, rent or borrow a heavy slide hammer with an axle flange. Next, heat the axle housing red hot at the bearing race and hammer away. Finally, carefully cut the bearing apart with an acetylene torch without cutting into the axle or housing! |
Re: wheels bearing Quote:
If the hammer doesn't get it, get a bigger hammer ... |
Re: wheels bearing when I change rear brgs I drill a small hole in the retainer ring part way thru, split it with a chisel, place a rag over the brg and hit the outer race with a hammer to break it off. heat the inner race a bit with a propane torch and drive the race off with a chisel. works every time. Torch on the inner race, trouble if you're not careful!

Re: wheels bearing We use a angle grinder &cut into the locking collar/retainer enough so that it removes easily under a 20 ton press.

Re: wheels bearing i m looking for the where the best site to buy a wheel bearings kit for my 1956 lincoln premiere

Re: wheels bearing Quote:
- thank you - |
Re: wheels bearing Quote:
Here is NATIONAL BEARING - https://www.sixityauto.com/2-pc-nati...htzg6mhke.html |
Re: wheels bearing KULTULZ it's sold out
|
Re: wheels bearing Try Rock Auto for the bearings. Might even try ebay - never know what can find there.
|
Re: wheels bearing Bearing part number: BCA 88128-R, or just ask for 88128R (R denotes/means retainer),
NOT ALL bearing kits inc /are supplied with the retainer you have to &must use a new locking collar/retainer/shrink ring when fitting/installing new rear wheel bearings, BEWARE NOT ALL of the USA bearing manufactuer 88128 in USA SOME if NOT MOST are made in china, i'd look/search for N.O.S. FORD/BCA/FAFNIR/NDH/L&S/MRC brands. |
Re: wheels bearing I was trying to source a quality bearing, not some off-shore crap.
NATIONAL is a known quality manufacturer but seems to be on back order. DENNIS CARPENTER advertises USA but also is on back order. https://www.mustangdepot.ca/dennis-c...bronco-1949-66 The FORD PN is 8M 1225-B for the bearing (not incl retainer) and B6A 1190-A for the seal. Let me see if I can find the NATIONAL PN and I will get back. ALSO READ - https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/for...d-ford-license SHOWS HERE ALSO - https://www.lincolnoldparts.com/bear...rear-axle.html But I would ask from where they source it. |
Re: wheels bearing Quote:
Just one seal leads to all of this ... |
Re: wheels bearing what do you think about skf ?
|
Re: wheels bearing Quote:
Are they readily available where you are? |
Re: wheels bearing SKF & alot if not MOST euro/uk/usa brand of rear axle/hub/wheel bearings DON'T manufactuer them in there respective countries, i found that out recently when i asked/enquired with SKF on a double row sealed ball bearing they don't make that series bearing as is the case with MOST IF NOT ALL of the major bearing companies NOT making them (bearings) in there countries of origin, i'd advise&suggest looking&finding N.O.S.. stock FORD/BCA/FAFNIR/FEDERAL/L&S/MRC/NDH/SKF.
