Re: Lighthouse Barbecue I saw a display of US military uniforms from the WWII era. I presume these were typical size, but they looked like they could fit an adolescent from today, and not a big one. Not just the height, but the width of the shoulders and the size of the boots were startlingly small.

Re: Lighthouse Barbecue Maybe small sizes were left over?

Re: Lighthouse Barbecue Bruce of MN - Ha! Well I have no idea where the uniforms came from. Ok, check the wartime photos of soldiers in the Pacific theater with their shirts open. They look pretty lean. Some look downright scrawny, but I’ll wager that’s because our modern expectation of physical fitness is big, obvious musculature.

I had researched the average male height in the USA, circa 1931. It was 5' 7". The height of the gal in that photo? I'd guess about 5'2" or so. |
Re: Lighthouse Barbecue They had to be small to get into a roadster with the top up.
