Looks like a good place to get gas. For the car too.

They aren’t short ! The A has new ford springs ! When I’ve visited homes built in the 20’s and earlier, I need to duck my head in the doorways

I saw a display of US military uniforms from the WWII era. I presume these were typical size, but they looked like they could fit an adolescent from today, and not a big one. Not just the height, but the width of the shoulders and the size of the boots were startlingly small.

Maybe small sizes were left over?

Bruce of MN - Ha! Well I have no idea where the uniforms came from. Ok, check the wartime photos of soldiers in the Pacific theater with their shirts open. They look pretty lean. Some look downright scrawny, but I’ll wager that’s because our modern expectation of physical fitness is big, obvious musculature.

Ya know, as a segway of sorts, I'd recently assembled a Model A pickup truck. I'm 6'2", 210#. I have a very difficult time getting in and out of this vehicle, not to mention operating the clutch.
I had researched the average male height in the USA, circa 1931. It was 5' 7".
The height of the gal in that photo? I'd guess about 5'2" or so.

They had to be small to get into a roadster with the top up.

I'm 6' 1" and 185 lb in the old measure and also own a 1930 CCPU (very rare here) I made a slight modification tot he seats and have no trouble entering or exiting the car. I am told that the 1928-9 CCPUs are a tighter fit though.
