Without seeing the whole carburetor, it looks like a Stromberg 97

Re: carburetor

‘40 is a Holley AA1 (94), should say 91-99 on the bowl. I can’t see the numbers clearly, but the air horn looks correct with the small oval vent above and behind the fuel inlet.

'39 thru '41 came originally with the Holley model 91-99.
'42 thru '48 came originally with the Holley model 59 like your's pictured.
Will work fine on '39 thru '48 in my opinion.

I agree. Stromberg '97 is what came originally in '36.
In all these years, I'm sure it's possible it could be a 40 or 48.
Not sure of the outside differences other than venturi size and jets/PV sizes.

Re: carburetor

Slight correction, 1942 was a 21-29 Holley. 46-48 was the model 59 Holley.

Re: carburetor

1939-41 was the 91-99 as mentioned above the top casting is correct but the center die casting is 59.
Without a complete photo of the side of the Stromberg can not tell if 97, 48, 40 or 81. The original Stromberg for the 36 is a small logo 97 also embossed 67 top and center. The large or small logo 97 is identical to the Stromberg embossed 67 and all three are interchangeable. Ford had their carburetors marked with the prefix of the ford part number 67 because they also rebuilt carburetors and did not want to rebuild carburetors used on other car Mfg.
