8BA Fan Hub grease or oil for lubrication?

My 39 Deluxe 8BA had a fan hub that looks like it has a screw that once removed is for oil to be put in for lubrication. I have another hub that has a grease fitting.
Should I use grease or oil?

If it is the wide belt hub it sould be oil (30wt I believe) as it circulates throughout the hub. The narrow belt hub had sealed bearings . Tim

Thanks for the response. What is the size of the wide belt and narrow belt? I do not have either belt.
Thank you,
Wick

The wide belt is about 5/8" wide, while the narrow belts are about 3/8". It's pretty easy to tell just by looking at them.

Here's a helpful website.

I was told that "cogged belts" are better.

Wick : Here's very helpful v_belt video. I use a 5/8 wide cogged belt on my 8BA. I have also used "uncogged" with no problems.

Here’s the tech link on the Ford oil filled fan hub assembly (tip: it’s not filled all the way with oil and you shouldn’t use grease instead of oil):

BTW….we sell the sealed bearing version of this hub, as well as parts for the original oil filled type hub.

I have one in my parts cabinet. Was on my truck for a couple years. The bearings inside those things are too small, so they are literally at their design limits any time they’re being used. Life expectancy was crap.
The pulley currently on my truck is based upon the original steel one and has really significant increases In the capacity of the two sealed bearings. It’s been on the truck for about 4-5 years. The design is courtesy of another Fordbarner and the machine work was done by Summers Brothers. It’s a nice piece.
