Steenbery Station Wagon bodies Out of curiosity, has anyone restored a Model A station wagon using a Steenburg body? I know he passed away a number of years ago but am interested knowing what you thought of the body and the quality.
Also, is there anyone currently suppling a new station wagon body today and what is their price? |
Re: Steenbery Station Wagon bodies Pleasantville was one of the last. As the prices went up- collectability went down and then they went out of business.
As important as are the bodies, the metal parts are also an integral part of putting one together. They also are no longer manufactured. In the last month I saw two A wagons for sale in the 12-14k range and both sold briskly. Unfortunate,y above that price, they languish and not much demand from 20k up. |
Re: Steenbery Station Wagon bodies Thanks Ron. That is about the status that I understood they were in and I think S&S industries that made the iron was also Steenburgs and they are gone now too. I searched the archives here and there was more discussion on Steenburg in around 2021 saying his wife sold the jigs and forms to a fellow in MI and there was subsequently a fire that finished him and the Steenburg stuff off so no one is making SW parts now. And the newsletter hasn't been published for a number of months and think is it also gone. Not sure that I like all the progress that is happening in the Model A hobby!

Re: Steenbery Station Wagon bodies Al, Ive looked at the wagons for yrs, always wanting one and the reality is just finding one that is already done. I do remember about 30 yrs ago heading to Hershey and the owner of Pleasantville offering the basic wood body for about 5600. Seemed very fair then. Cant imagine what that same body would cost today.............
