Oil return pipe and Tappet cover.

Oil return pipe and valve cover parts anomaly in parts book.
There were two Model 'A' oil return pipes and two valve covers each with their respective pipes.
I have a parts book dated 1st July 1932 and it covers just about all mechanical parts except some of the really early parts.
The book shows an oil return pipe A-6645 and a tappet cover A-6520.
I presume they are a matching pair.
What happened to the other oil return pipe and it's cover? They are not in the book. These parts are very common and found in just about all home workshops all around the world.
Is this an error?
Like to hear your comments. I have attached pictures from the parts book.

Re: Oil return pipe and Tappet cover.

Ford dropped selling the early version so it wouldn't be in a parts book.

While we are on side covers
What is the small V cut out on the top centre of the gasket

The gasket in the picture is upside down— the V is to seal the 2 oil dams inside the valve chamber.

They did that so it would match the cover which is upside down also.:D

The OP is in New Zealand, that’s probably why all the pictures are upside down [emoji854]

I am not talking about the little knob part that is in the top in the pick,
The little vee cutout is in the top of the gasket as it sits one the engine, just under the manifold right in the area where the spring that holds the distributor drive gear in place

Isn't there an oil dam in the valve chamber that that little whatsis seals to?

That's the same gasket, the tabs are for the oil dams in the valve chamber.

I see the cut. Maybe just a damaged die.

Re: Oil return pipe and Tappet cover.

It’s not the bit that seals the oil dams
It’s the little cut out vee in the top, they are a pain , as there is a relief in the block that allows the drive gear spring to seat in and unless you are very careful this vee exposes the groove where the said spring seats and will leak oil .

Re: Oil return pipe and Tappet cover.

Regarding the two oil return pipes and tappet covers.
I presume the parts numbered: Oil return pipe A-6645 and a tappet cover A-6520 are reasonably early, probably 28 and part 29.
Should the later parts be A-6645-B, and A-6520-B? Just as all the other parts are numbered in the parts book - 'B' 'C', etc.
