clutch

I put a touring engine in our Model A 3 years ago. I have about 10,000 miles on it now. I need to replace the clutch disc & was wondering what thoughts were about the pressure plate. A V8 plate was used instead of the model a pressure plate. I'm thinking the plate should be good yet. I believe when I installed the new engine I did not make a clutch adjustment so I may have worn the disc prematurely. I also wonder about the free play in the clutch pedal. Should I feel the 1" when pressing the clutch pedal after I make sure the throw out bearing is not touching the pressure plate fingers?

Re: clutch

You can feel it with your hand as you look into the clutch inspection opening to verify. Any pressure plate has enough resistance to movement to be able to tell when the TO bearing makes contact. The Long type 9-inch clutch should last a lot of miles with a responsible operator.

I'm sure I didn't adjust the clutch when I put the engine in.
