Installation of Long Steering Support Bracket in 1929 Coupe The long bracket (A3250) does not fit without modification - at least one new hole needs to be drilled, and I also may need a spacer of some sort.
Has anyone done this installation on a ‘29 car ? Thanks, Jim |
Re: Installation of Long Steering Support Bracket in 1929 Coupe I put on in a 29 Sport Coupe for a fellow several years ago, and the only modification I recall having to do was drill the extra hole. It's been a long time so I may be forgetting, but I don't recall having to make a spacer.

Re: Installation of Long Steering Support Bracket in 1929 Coupe Have you loosened the gear box mounting bolts ?

Re: Installation of Long Steering Support Bracket in 1929 Coupe Did you remove the rubber in the original bracket? With the rubber out and loosen gearbox to frame bolts you should have enough to use the new bracket

Re: Installation of Long Steering Support Bracket in 1929 Coupe There are 2 different late steering supports. One is about 4 1/2" from the mounting surface to the top of the column. The other is the long one at nearly 6" it's for the Victoria. (measurements are from the dusty recesses of my mind but you get the idea).

Re: Installation of Long Steering Support Bracket in 1929 Coupe Good article. I installed one on my 30 and I don't have to worry any more about grabbing
the steering wheel when getting into the car. I sure didn't want a gas leak at my tank. |
Re: Installation of Long Steering Support Bracket in 1929 Coupe Thanks for this.
