Anybody heading for the New England Meet in Rocky Hill Connecticut from Thursday Sept 12th to Sunday the 15th?

I know that a few from the Little Rhody club are interested in going. I'd consider going as well but my coupe is not in good enough mechanical shape to make the two hour drive.

Groups of Model A's from Long Island will be arriving on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. I will be in Rocky Hill on Wednesday. I just finished preparing my Victoria for the run. Rocky Hill from Long Island is an easy ride for me as it is only 67 miles from the Bridgeport Ferry Terminal via back country roads. I hear that registrations for the New England Meet are sold out at 160.

In the past I drove my 1931 Coupe to New England Meets, and it has a rumble seat to stuff with baggage. However, my Victoria does not have the luggage space of my Coupe, so I have a temporary luggage rack installation on the Victoria for baggage.

Minuteman club has 10 A's driving down and some going modern. We'll be there Friday and look forward to seeing everyone.

Here are the travel directions that the Model A Ford Club of Long Island is following.
Connecticut Route 8 The first few miles through Bridgeport runs concurrently with Connecticut Rt 25. Approaching the split between Routes 8 & 25, the road expands to several lanes. Stay in right lane & follow the Rt 8N signs. In Naugatuck exit from Rt 8 to Rt 68 East.

Rt 68 has a few turns at intersections where the route signs are difficult to spot. Generally, stay to the right at intersections enroute to Rocky Hill. A restroom stop will be made at a gas station on Rt 68. In Yalesville, after passing under the Wilbur Cross Pkwy, Rt 68 intersects US 5. Exit onto US 5 North (left) also known as the Berlin Turnpike.

US 5 North As you turn onto US 5, there is a small shopping center immediately on the right. Turn into the shopping center where there is a restaurant for lunch on our trip to Rocky Hill:
Leaving the shopping center turn righ onto Rt 5. Stay on US 5 through Tracy, Meriden, Worthington and into Berlin. In the northern part of Berlin, exit right onto Rt 160 East.

Rt 160 East goes east into Rocky Hill. In Rocky Hill turn right onto Rt 3 South.
Rt 3 South (AKA Cromwell Ave) runs south to West St. West St. A landmark for West St is a Radison Hotel that will be at the corner and on your left. Turn left onto West St and stay in the right lane.

West St has a junction with Capital Blvd a short distance east of the interstate. Turn right onto Capital Blvd and the Sheraton Hartford South Hotel entrance is the first driveway on the right at 100 Capital Blvd.

IMHO, the best way to travel long distances in a Model A is to hop on the interstate, stay in the right lane and toodle along at 50 mph. People can pass you easily, and you don't have to deal with twists and turns and hills and stopsigns and redlights. On a 2 lane back road, traffic piles up behind you and they get angry and pass you dangerously. We'll head up US 209 in PA, crossing into NY, and picking up I84 to bring us to near Rocky Hill.

When traffic builds up behind my touring group, we pull over. Most country roads have speed limits that suit the Model A's cruising speeds. We like 45 to 50 MPH. We also travel the interstates when its necessary.
